Richard Glawe (Church School)

Richard Glawe, 67, of Riverview, FL, passed away on November 9, 2023. He was born on November 21, 1955, in Rockford, IL. Richard, also known as "Rick," was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He married Kim L. Maddock in May 1980, and they shared 43 wonderful years together. Rick has one son, Ricky, who blessed him with two grandchildren, Hayley and Trey.

Rick had a passion for golf and enjoyed numerous golfing trips throughout the years. He also found joy in bowling and had a collection of antique cars, with his last one being a 1964 Studebaker Avanti named Ava. Rick was known for his infectious laughter and his ability to bring happiness to those around him. 

He will be deeply missed by his surviving family members, including his wife Kim, son Ricky (Kelley), grandchildren Hayley and Trey, mother-in-law Linda Maddock, sister-in-law Kay (Jim) Satre, sister-in-law Gail (Marlin) Peterson, brother-in-law Bob (Gayla) Maddock, brother-in-law Jim (Dodi) Maddock, brother-in-law Scott (Lois) Burkhart, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Dwight F. Glawe, his mother, Lucille (Hargraves) Glawe, his brother David F. Hanson, his father-in-law Robert Maddock, his sister-in-law Lois Burkhart, and his niece Andrea Mellas. 

Rick's career began as a parts man at Lou Bachrodt and then at Humphrey Cadillac and Olds before transitioning to become a firefighter/paramedic with the Rockford Fire Department. He dedicated his life to serving and protecting others.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date in Rockford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to LifePath Hospice, Hillsborough County, Sun City Center Hospice House.

The compassionate professionals at Serenity Meadows in Riverview, FL, are assisting the family during this difficult time.
