Sandra A. Tolefree 1953—2016
Sandra A. Tolefree, 63, went to be with the Lord, December 17, 2016. She was born to Joan Smith November 14, 1953 in Rockford. Sandra graduated from Auburn High School in 1973. On August 9, 1980 she married James Tolefree in Rockford IL. Sandra worked at Circle of Learning for 22 years before starting her own in home daycare business which she ran for 17 years. Sandra enjoyed shopping for cars, cooking, baking, dressing her grandchildren, taking pictures, and traveling to visit different Churches. She was a Sunday school teacher, a foster parent to 6 children, and served the Westside Academy School Board. Sandra loved the Lord and her family. Survivors include; husband, James E. Tolefree; sons, Jermaine (Chonta) Tolefree and Avery (Marisol) Smith; daughters, Catrina Brown (Marvin), Tiana Tolefree; sisters, Gwen Guerin, Dawn Smith and Rosalind English; 13 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Special friends left behind include Ann Hunter, Sister Enus Lewis, Annie Anthony, Liz Howell, and Damion Leslie (Red). Preceded in death by; mother; brothers, Shawn Lee and Dwight C. Smith.
Visitation Thursday, December 22, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 North Alpine Rd. Machesney Park. Funeral service Friday, December 23, 11 a.m. with visitation at 10 a.m. at West Side Church of Christ 1523 Morgan St, Rockford, IL 61102. Condolences to sunsetfhmemgardens.com
