Charlene Higgenbotham 1955—2016
Charlene Adelia Adams Higgenbotham, 60, Rockford, Illinois, died at 1:30 a.m., Thursday, March 3, 2016, in her home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born August 28, 1955, in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Adelia (Atkinson) Adams. She lived her entire life in Rockford. She graduated from Auburn High School, Class of 1973. Married Glen K. Higgenbotham in Rockford, Illinois on August 21, 1999. She was employed as an office manager by DiBenedetto & Associates for 34 years. Charlene did bi-annual camp outs with girlfriends, enjoyed Caribbean cruises and trips to Florida and Vegas with family and friends.
Survivors include husband, Glen Higgenbotham, Rockford, Illinois; son, Dustin (Hillary) Fensterman, Rockton, Illinois; stepsons, Eric (Sarah) Higgenbotham and Aaron Higgenbotham, both of Loves Park, Illinois; brother, Dale (Vickie) Adams, Rockton, Illinois; sisters, Dar (Mike) Moffett, Salem, Iowa and Donna (Joe) Kowalewski, Rockford, Illinois; grandchildren, Chloe Higgenbotham, Aiden Higgenbotham, Megan Smith and Zack Smith; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Buzzy.
Funeral ceremonies will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 7, 2016, in McCorkle Funeral Home-Rockton Chapel, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, Illinois, with Roberta Oslund officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, March 6. Burial will be in Rockton Township Cemetery, 600 West Street, Rockton, Illinois.
