 Gary Gerber, 55, of Rockford, IL passed away Friday, February 4, 2011 at his residence. Born June 29, 1955 in Rockford, IL; the son of the late Manuel and Hilda (Koenck) Gerber. Gary served his country by joining the army after high school. His hobbies included NASCAR Green Bay Packers fan and a Norte Dame fan. He attended many races rooting on his driver Dale Earnhart and attended many Notre Dame games. Gary had a passion for trains and worked part-time at Royal Hobby in Rockford, IL. Survivors include his sister, Carol (Benjamin) Medina, nephews, Richard (Lynette) Campbell and Christopher Campbell; great-nieces and nephews, Ashley, Amanda, Brandon Campbell and Stephen Campbell. Memorial Services will be 10:00 am Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115. A gathering of friends and family will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Thursday. Inurnment will be at a later date in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
