Belinda Eldora (Scarpetta) Lund, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the age of 69.
Born to Paul and Carol (Raymer) Scarpetta, Belinda grew up in Rockford and graduated from Auburn High School. Belinda devoted 48 remarkable years to Rockford Memorial Hospital where she was a chair for the Employee Appreciation and Activities Committee and the 20 Year Club. Beyond her professional achievements, she found great joy in her role as president of the Women's Auxiliary for the Verdi Club, a position she held for 13 years. Her leadership shone through in her love for organizing parties and coordinating lively gambling trips, which brought countless smiles and cherished memories to those around her.
Belinda's greatest joys in life were her family. She adored her two grandchildren, Kevin and Brooke Lund, and treasured every moment spent with them. She cherished her husband of 48 years, David Lund, and took pride in her son, Michael Lund. She looked up to her older brother, John Scarpetta, and was a loving twin sister to Barbara Wolf, with whom she shared a bond that words cannot fully capture. Belinda embraced life with boundless energy and joy.
Belinda is survived by her husband, David Lund; her son, Michael (Katie) Lund; her grandchildren, Kevin and Brooke Lund; her mother, Carol Scarpetta; her brother, John (Veda) Scarpetta; her sister, Barbara (Bruce) Wolf; her brother-in- law Richard (Robin) Lund; nephew, Nathan (Melissa) Wolf; niece, Stephanie (Scott) Hoftender; niece, Gina Scarpetta; nephew, Nick (Erin) Scarpetta; niece, Ashley (Austin) Anderson; niece, Heather Perkins; niece, Andrea Lund; nephew Conner Lund; nephew, Wyatt Lund; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Scarpetta; father-in-law, Paul Armstrong; mother-in-law, Rita Armstrong, and sister-in-law Janice Smith.
Belinda's legacy is one of love, kindness, and celebration. Her family and friends will remember her as a woman who lived life to the fullest and brought joy to everyone she met.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Verdi Club, 782 N Madison St., Rockford, IL, on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 11:00 to 2:30. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor her memory by spreading kindness, sharing laughter, spending time with a friend or family member, and enjoying a lunch together. Belinda's love, laughter, and devotion to her family and friends will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
