STANLEY THOMPSON, 56 ROCKFORD
Stanley Thompson, 56, of Rockford departed this earthly life Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at home after a long illness. He was born April 16, 1955, son of Lorenza and Vera Thompson. Stanley lived most of his life in Rockford, coming here from Mississippi. He was employed as a supervisor by Action Construction for more than 20 years. He graduated from Auburn High School class of 1973. Married Darlene Davis on Aug. 28, 1976; he later married Shirley Moore in 1993. Stanley leaves to cherish many loving memories two sons, Dathan Thompson and Skylar (Shanaye) Thompson; two grandchildren, Ozriel Thompson and Dathan Thompson Jr.; mother, Vera; brothers, Michael Givens, Lorenza Thompson III, and Paul (Lakesha) Thompson; sisters, Priscilla Thompson, Linda (Henry) Ellis, Loretta Thompson, Gail (Douglas) Anderson and Elaine (George) Frazier; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and very special friends, Valrese Hallom, and Denise Wingo. Predeceased by his father. Services at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, 2919 19th St., with Pastor Louis E. Malone officiating Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to service time. Arrangements by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home, 2429 W. State St. Donations accepted at Carl E. Ponds to assist with services.
