Floyd Allard (Mathematics)

Floyd E. Allard, 63, 9774 Oscaree Drive, Rockford, died at 8:20 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 1977, in Rockford Memorial Hospital after a heart attack.  Born Nov. 13, 1913, in Noble, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Allard.  Lived 17 years in Rockford, coming here from Dunlap.  Married the former Bertha May Griffin in Varna, August 10, 1936.  Employed as a mathematics teacher at Auburn High School for 14 years before retiring in 1974.  Later he was the astronomer in residence for the Rockford Arts and Science Center.  Before moving to Rockford he was a mathematics and science teacher at Dunlap High School from 1940 to 1960.  Veteran of World War II, serving in the Army.  Member of Owens Center United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his widow, Bertha; two daughters, Mrs. Ellen Schildt, Burlington, Wis., and Mrs. Bette Chamberlain, Barrington, N.H.; three grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Grace Stallard, Noble.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, in the Burpee-Wood Funeral Home, 420 N. Main St., with Rev. Gary Nedeleski, pastor of Owen Center United Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Owen Center Cemetery.  Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Fund and the Owens Center United Methodist Church pension fund.
