Walter Kemp “Buck” Correll, 78

Walter Kemp “Buck” Correll, 78, of Rockford died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, in North Penn Hospital, Lansdale, Pa. 
Born July 23, 1922, Lincoln, he son of Kemper and Esthma Altizer Correll.  Married Emma Jane Gentry 56 years ago.  Graduated from Lincoln Community High School and lettered four years in football, basketball and track.  He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1944, and earned a master’s degree from the University of Illinois in 1950. 
He lettered in both football and track at Illinois and was a Big Ten punting champ in 1942.  He taught and coached for 37 years in Carbondale, Rochelle, with the last 19 years at Auburn High School in Rockford. 
Member of Rockford First Presbyterian Church, Tau Kappa Epsilon social fraternity and Phi Delta Kappa professional fraternity.  Also member of Chicago Daily News All-State Football Board and was inducted into the Illinois Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 1998.
Survivors include wife, Emma Jane; daughter Carolyn (Paul) Murphy of Lansdale; grandson Michael (Lissa) Kemp Murphy of Arlington, VA; brother, Marion Correll of Lincoln; and nephew, Richard (Barbara) Aery of Phoenix, Ariz.
Services at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 4, in First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. William Kramp officiating.  Burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday, june 5, in Bement (Ill.) Cemetery.  Visitation from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Monday in the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Rockford YMCA Summer Camp Program.  Arrangement by Fred C.
