HELEN T. WILLIAMS, 87 ROCKFORD - Helen T. Williams, 87, of Rockford passed away May 3, 2008, in her home. Born Sept. 15, 1920, in Peoria, the daughter of James and Theresa (Brandt) Tomblin. Helen married David Williams in Rockford in May of 1948. Helen served as a librarian at Auburn High School as well as the Rockford Public Library/Rockton Center. She retired in 1985 after 20 years of service. Helen was also part of W.A.V.E.S. (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) during World War II. She was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church, League of Women Voters, AAUW, Rockford College Alumni Association and Friends of the North Suburban Library. Helen received her bachelor's degree from Rockford College and two master's degrees from Northern Illinois University. Helen is survived by her daughter, Denise Williams. She is predeceased by her parents. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, in St. Bridget Catholic Church, with visitation from 9 a.m. until time of Mass. Interment to follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Covenant House, 460 W. 41st St., New York, NY 10036.
