WILLIAM ZAVADIL, 75 ROCKFORD - William "Bill" Zavadil, 75, of Rockford died at 3:58 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at home. Born Sept. 23, 1937, in Chicago, son of George and Rose (Jakubczik) Zavadil. Received his Bachelor's and Masters degrees from Western Illinois University. He married Barbara C. Shaw on Aug. 14, 1965, in Hinsdale; she died March 31, 2001. Bill was a football coach at Auburn High School for 33 years, leading them to their first quarterfinals in 1990. He also coached at Rock Valley College for 19 years and East High School for one year. He played professional football for the Buffalo Bills, Boston Patriots and Toronto Argonauts. Former member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Bill assisted with the Golden Eagles Program at Rock Valley College and was a member of the Western Illinois Hall of Fame and the Illinois Coaches Association Hall of Fame. He enjoyed woodworking; history, especially Native Americans; spending time in nature hiking and camping; and traveling, especially to Montana and Europe. He is survived by children, Michael Zavadil, Karen (Mike) Parr, Amy (Jon) Marzorati, Wendy (Bill) Dolan and Carrie (boyfriend, Dave Marinelli) Zavadil, all of Rockford; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Ava, Lily, Alexi, Jack, Alyssa, William, Matthew, Chloe and Nicholas; and special friend, Karen Levis. Also predeceased by parents; and brother, George. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1829 N. Rockton Ave., with the Rev. Eric Lemonholm officiating. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Olson Funeral & Cremation Services Ltd., North Main Chapel, 2811 N. Main St., and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, before the service in the church.
