Bobby J. Patton, 36, a member of the administrative staff at Auburn High School, collapsed in a hallway at the school Thursday afternoon (10-30-1975) and was dead on arrival at 1:40 p.m. at Rockford Memorial Hospital.
Auburn Principal Donald Erickson said Patton had been under a physician’s care for a heart ailment.
He was stricken while returning to his office from the school cafeteria after lunch.
An administrative aide at Auburn for more than four years, he came to Rockford 10 years ago from Fulton, Ky.
Survivors include his widow, Virginia; two sons, Michael and Marq, and a daughter, Michele, all of South Bend, Ind.; his stepfather and mother, Mr. and Mrs. James Atkins, South Bend; and three stepsons, Del, John, and David Sumpter, all of Rockford.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Pilgrim Baptist Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
