Arletha "Dimple" Jones-Cooper, of Rockford departed this earthly life Saturday, October 1, 2016 in her home after a long illness. She was born March 26, 1955 in Vance, MS the daughter of JT and Arlether Leach. Arletha lived in Rockford most of her life coming from Vance. She married Michael Jones in 1985. Of this union 3 sons were born. She married Dave Cooper December 18, 2014.
Arletha was employed as a case manager by Rockford MELD 10 years. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church serving on the Senior Usher Board. She attended Auburn High School later to receive her GED and received her Associates Degree from Rock Valley College.
Arletha leaves to cherish many loving memories, her husband Dave; 3 sons, Michael (Shelly) Jones Jr., Marco Jones, and Jesse (Aleshia) Jones; 9 grandchildren; mother, Arlether Jenkins; 5 sisters, Leona (MacArthur) Tennin, Gloria Jones, Ruth (Cedric) Lawrence, Marilyn Young and Mary Ann King; 4 brothers, Greg Leach, Charles (Kimberly) Young, Jesse T. Leach, and Larry Young; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Sonya Marshall, Ann Robinson and Francis B. Jones. She was predeceased by her father, and 2 sisters, Valerie Young and Rosetta Wyatt.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016 at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church 2919 19th Street. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home 2429 W. State St.
