MARY JANE HERBERT, 82 ROCKFORD - Mary Jane Herbert, 82, of Rockford died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, in P.A. Peterson Center for Health.  
Born Jan. 4, 1925, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Faye and Lyda Davidson Kretsinger.  Graduated from West High School.  Married Henry A. Herbert in Rockford on Aug. 18, 1945.  Active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Good Will Circle. Volunteer for River Bluff Nursing Home.
She retired from the Rockford School Board office, where she was a stenographer for many years.  Mary Jane always lived life to the fullest.  She received great enjoyment from being at their lake home and from her kitty, Molly.  She was a published poet, having had her poems in "Ideals Magazine" and "Lutheran Digest."  She had been acknowledged in many ways for her poetry.
Survivors include her daughters, Kathleen Herbert of Madison, Wis., Kristine (Dave) Alter of Rockford and Laurie Robbe (Brian Pooler) of Oneida, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and her precious kitty, Molly.  Predeceased by her parents; her husband on July 1, 2005; brother, Albert Kretsinger; and sister, Erline Fritsch. Funeral at 1:30 p.m.
